Math Skill Builders Diagnosis

To most effectively use worksheets generated by Math Skill Builders, first decide the type of problem, and operation that will be targeted for instruction. Use Math Skill Builders Diagnosis worksheets to identify students' current arithmetic skill levels. Diagnosis worksheets have one problem at each of the Math Skill Builders skill levels.

To use Diagnosis worksheets:

  1. Choose Daily Worksheets.
  2. Choose a problem type (whole numbers, decimals, fractions).
  3. Choose Diagnosis worksheets.
  4. Choose Problems for one of the arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Print this page and have students answer the problems
  5. Choose Solutions that go with this day's problems to have an answer key. After the students complete the diagnosis worksheets, check the answers with the solutions page. The highest level, or problem number, that the student answered correctly, is probably the current skill level of the student.

The target skill level for Instruction and Practice is usually one skill level higher than the student's current skill level.
