Math Skill Builders Instruction

As students progress through the Math Skill Builders skill levels, they may need instruction to succeed at each higher level, or to change operations, or to move to a different problem type.

To use MathSkillBuilders.com worksheets to aid instruction:

  1. Determine the type of instruction each student needs. Identify the student's target skill level, operation, and type of problem. (Refer to Progress)
  2. Give each student instruction at their target skill level. Use the problems and stepped out solutions on Practice Worksheets to show students how to work out the steps necessary to solve problems at the target skill level.
  3. Make Supplementary worksheets in the different problem types to demonstrate additional skills that may be needed to progress to higher skill levels.
  4. Once you have provided sufficient instruction in a new skill, the student is ready for practice. Have the students complete Practice worksheets. If the student is not successful at the target skill level, determine if more instruction is needed, or if the target skill level should be lowered.
